Overview Schedule Awards & Prize Money Rules Standings
At each of the six (6) Virginia championship races, USATF Virginia members and clubs will earn Grand Prix points that will accumulate through the year towards a year-end point total. A total of $3500 in prize money is available (see breakdown below). Grand Prix Scoring Age-graded performance scoring will be utilized at each championship race so that athletes of all ages will be competing against each other for grand prix points. YEAR-END STANDING The athletes best three (3) scores will be combined to determine their year-end score. If an athlete competes in more than three races they will earn 25 bonus points per race for each subsequent race after the third race. BREAKING TIES A. In case of a tie or ties for 1st place in a division, the tie(s) will be broken using the following guidelines:
i. Compare head-to-head competition (based on age-graded scores) between/among the tying individuals. The runner with the most head-to-head higher places between/among the tying individuals will be awarded the higher place in the division. ii. In case individuals are still tied after applying (i.), then the runner with most 1st place finishes between/among the tying individuals will be awarded the higher place in the division. iii. In case the individuals are still tied after applying (i.) and (ii.), then the individuals who are still tied will be awarded the same place and will receive duplicate awards.
