Bey siblings earn five medals at youth nationals in Georgia

The 2021 USATF Youth Outdoor Championships concluded on Saturday (26-Jun) in Rome, GA.

Twenty-three (23) athletes from USATF Virginia competed in the championships in a total of forty-nine events.   Eighteen (18) of the athletes represent the Legion of Zoom Track Club.

Virginians earned eighteen trips to the awards podium.

Leading the march to the podium for the locals was Iyndia Bey (Legions of Zoom TC) who earned three visits to the podium.  She won the girls 13-14 1500m running 4:49.75, finished second in the 800m in a time of 2:17.73, and was seventh in the 400m in 1:00.97.  Her younger brother Lamaas Bey earned two medals as he finished third in the boys 9-10 1500m (5:21.81) and fifth in the 800m (2:42.11).  He was also 10th in the 400m.

Other multi-medal winners were: 
  • Arianna Finkle (Legion of Zoom TC, 8U girls, 3rd 400m; 7th 200m); 
  • Larry Cherry III (Legion of Zoom TC; 9-10 boys, 3rd 200m, 7th Long Jump); 
  • Addison Ford (Legion of Zoom TC, 11-12 girls, 5th 3000m, 7th 800m); 
  • Catalina Sanchious (MVP League, 13-14 girls, 5th 100m, 8th 200m); and
  • Henry Sullivan (unattached, 6th 400m Hurdles, 8th 110m Hurdles).
