The 2026 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships concluded Sunday after seven days of competition at Falcon Stadium on the campus of Cerritos College in Norwalk, California. More than 6,308 athletes from all 50 states competed in the nation's premier youth track and field event.
Despite sending a small but talented contingent to Southern California, the Virginia Association produced two All-American performances and several additional top-16 finishes against some of the nation's best young athletes.
Leading the way were Commonwealth Throws Club teammates Jalen Newton and Khloe Mullen, who each earned All-American honors with seventh-place finishes. Newton placed seventh in the boys 15–16 shot put with a throw of 13.59 meters, while Mullen earned seventh place in the girls 15–16 discus with a mark of 35.56 meters.
Commonwealth Throws Club continued its strong tradition in the throwing events, as Robert Stewart added a 23rd-place finish in the boys 17–18 hammer throw to complement the performances of Newton and Mullen.
Several Virginia athletes came within a few places of earning All-American honors. Jordan Bell (unattached) finished 13th in the boys 7–8 400m, while William Waterworth (unattached) placed 15th in the boys 13–14 800m. Timothy Chapman Jr. (NVA Track) narrowly missed All-American status twice, finishing 16th in both the boys 11–12 80m hurdles and the pentathlon.
